In honor of International Women's Day, WIT@UCSF is thrilled to bring together a panel of some of the increcible women who are leading the charge on the cutting edge of healthcare technology. The panel will cover topics like using AI to improve health outcomes and healthcare quality, research on AI for improving access to abortion care, and much more. Shifting Lenses: Patient Experience from Employee to Patient

Veronica Alvarez, Vice Chair, Equity, Inclusion & Structural Change, shares her personal health journey and reflects on the profound connections she forged with faculty and residents at UCSF following her transition from employee and colleague, to patient. Veronica will engage in a dialogue with her surgeon, ObGyn Resident Blanca Morales, sharing their perspectives on biases and explore the biases they have encountered in academia and how they can #InspireInclusion.



Pelvic Floor Health Throughout the Lifespan

The pelvic floor is vital to sexual health and function, bowel and bladder control, and to stabilize the core and support all of our pelvic organs. Join our panel of expert urogynecologic surgeons as they discuss common conditions that affect the function of the pelvic floor, available treatments, as well as health maintenance and disease prevention strategies.

Gendered Impacts of Climate Change: Unveiling the Intersection with Women's Health

In the face of climate change as one of today's most pressing health concerns, let Dr. Andrea Jackson warmly welcome you, setting the stage for an insightful discussion. Women bear a disproportionate burden of its impacts, and the understanding of reproductive effects is only now unfolding. Wildfires, air pollution, floods, heatwaves, and other extreme ecological conditions significantly affect the health of pregnant individuals and infants. Our team of care providers and researchers at UCSF are working to understand and mitigate these effects. Dr. Emilia Basliio and midwife Laura Weil will discuss the current research and ways to protect our patients and ourselves from climate change, and review opportunities for activism.

Inspiring Inclusion of Sexual Health to Your Health Outcomes with Jennifer Kinder, PT, DPTSc

It’s time for your annual checkup on your pelvic floor. This pelvic health talk will cover common pelvic floor dysfunctions, break the taboos about women’s sexual health as they age, how it relates to a woman’s overall health, and your annual pelvic floor strength and endurance checkup.



New Rights for Pregnant and Postpartum Workers

With the passage of the federal PUMP Act and Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, and the enactment of new Title IX regulations, pregnant and postpartum workers have new and strengthened rights to accommodations and leave. This session will provide an overview of the new laws and offer strategies for how to successfully implement them in your workplace. By the end of the session, the learner will be able to:

• Articulate the basic protections provided pregnant and lactating workers by the PUMP Act and Pregnant Workers Fairness Act; and,

• Be able to employ tools and strategies to respond to common workplace challenges they may encounter.
