Whitney's Bio:

I have over twenty years of experience working in administrative healthcare for the department of Radiology. I have been an Administrative Supervisor for the Parnassus Campus for 15 years and I oversee the Radiology front desk services to include the Imaging Library.

Since my time in Radiology, I have supported the department during the transition from film to digital, including workflow adjustments, staff support and implementation of new processes utilizing imaging platforms such as Life Image and most currently Ambra. This past year I helped launch and manage the Imaging Libraries “Ditch the Disk” campaign, an effort to decommission the number of CD burners our Pac’s team supports and evolve patients MyChart access giving them greater control over their imaging and streamlining a pathway for continuity of care. I’ve had moments when I considered moving into clinical roles, but I’ve learned that my strengths and passions align with administrative work.  It’s been incredibly rewarding, and I take pride in contributing to patient care through efficient operations and strong support.

What brought you to healthcare? Can you tell us about your professional journey?

I began my journey in healthcare by chance; I was a Marketing major at the time, working in a pizza parlor, and learned that a transport position was being piloted at a hospital nearby. I liked everything about the position, so I applied. I’ve always enjoyed helping others, but my experience working in the hospital confirmed that healthcare is the environment where I feel most fulfilled and where I want to continue building my career. Soon after, I applied to schools in Northern California and made my way from the Central Coast, continuing to work in Radiology at both Sutter and UCSF.

What has been an important success in your career? Have you had a key breakthrough moment?

The relationships I’ve built over the years have been one of the most meaningful and important sources of success in my career. They have shown me the value of never burning bridges, consistently treating others with the respect I hope to receive, and leading with empathy and grace. As someone in management, my goal is not to just give directives but to collaborate and function as an active member of the team. Building trust is essential to my leadership; it’s important that my team feels secure in my guidance and knows I will always support them.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work I love spending time with my family. I have two little girls who keep me very busy between sports, gymnastics, and most currently horse vaulting. Since we live in Sonoma County, there’s always something to explore or enjoy.

Can you tell us about a significant role model or mentor in your life?

My parents, though they would disagree, are my greatest role models. They worked tirelessly to ensure we never went without and taught us the importance of treating everyone with respect and kindness, regardless of who they are. Whatever they do, they give their all, and that example continues to guide me.
