Dr. Reddy's career has spanned many years, contributing greatly to the care of patients with brain tumors and neurofibromatosis. She is also leading the neuro-oncology cross bay program leading through transition and furthering collaborations among Oakland and SF. She is a supportive member of the team and proactive in multidisciplinary care of patients and support of the team. After spending many years in Alabama, she has been an asset to UCSF in her time with us and we all benefit from her guidance and advocacy.

Alyssa's Bio:
Dr. Alyssa Reddy is a pediatric neurologist and neuro-oncologist with expertise in treating children who have tumors of the nervous system. She has more than 25 years of experience in caring for children and young adults with brain tumors and other neurologic disorders. Reddy directs UCSF Neurofibromatosis (NF) Program which has rapidly expanded since she joined the faculty in 2018. This genetic disorder, affecting 1 in 2,500 people worldwide, is associated with tumors that form on nerves and can affect many elements of the body, including skin, bones and senses such as vision and hearing. She is also medical director of the UCSF Cross Bay Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Program, one of the largest of its kind in the world and lead site for the Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium (PNOC). Dr. Reddy aims to provide patients with compassionate care as well as access to cutting-edge treatment via clinical trials.

What advice would you give yourself early on in your career? To a woman entering your field today?
Trust your instincts. Choose an area of medicine that combines your scientific interests and passion for caring for patients.
What brought you to healthcare?
As a teenager, I babysat for my next-door neighbors. Two of their 3 children had a neuro-degenerative disease, eventually known as Rett Syndrome. This experience inspired me to go into child neurology.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I enjoy running, hiking, and spending time with family.
