What brought you to healthcare? Can you tell us about your professional journey?  I actually didn’t plan to be healthcare, but I have grown to love it.  What keeps me here is the complexity of the business, the fact that I’m always learning something new, and the joy and satisfaction of working with such smart, talented and hardworking people.

Can you tell us about an important role model or mentor in your life?  One of my mentors runs a mental health focused non-profit in the East Bay and I sit on her board.  She is bold, fearless, and cares deeply about her organization’s mission.  She also cares deeply about the people who work for her and in support of her non-profit.  I have benefitted from watching her lead and motivate her team.  I also appreciate her for inspiring and motivating me through the years.

What’s a favorite movie or TV Show you’ve watched recently?  When Harry Met Sally – Every Nora Ephron rom com has a character with a favorite movie they watch over and over again.  This one is mine!

What’s on your reading list?  Márquez’s Doce Cuentos Peregrinos and  Octavia Butler’s Kindred.

What do you like to do outside of work?  Brazilian dance: Samba no pé, Forró, Afro-Brazilian among others …
