Claudine's Bio
I began my career at the San Francisco VA Medical Center as the Lab Manager for the Behavioral Medicine Research Center, and in 2008 I joined the UCSF Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences as a Senior Clinical Research Coordinator for the Over-60 Program. I currently serve as the Program Manager for the PReMIUM Lab and the ARCHES Program under the leadership of Vice Dean Christina Mangurian, MD, MAS. In my 16 years at UCSF, I have led programs and initiatives with a singular mission: improving access to health care and mental health services for historically excluded communities. I have been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work alongside extraordinary faculty, clinicians, and mentors who focus on lifting others up.
Can you tell us about a significant role model or mentor in your life?
My father was my role model. As a single parent, he was dedicated to me and my sister. He sacrificed a tremendous amount and worked tirelessly to support us in everything we did. By example, he instilled in me a strong work ethic and the importance of self-worth.
What brought you to healthcare?
In graduate school I took a course on the mind-body connection, and I knew that I wanted to do work that contributed to the science that aims to treat the whole person, not just their symptoms.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Outside of work, I love taking my kids to baseball games and spending time at the beach.
